Valencia, 15th March 2020

At Equipo Juana Crespo we are joining all the efforts that Spanish and International Health Institutions are carrying out as a result of the Sanitary Alert due to Covid-19.

First, we would like to express our deep gratitude to the health services and all professionals from many other sectors whose work is invaluable in the current circumstances. We would also like to thank our patients for their understanding and collaboration in this situation.

If you are a patient at Equipo Juana Crespo

According to the last statement issued by the Spanish Society of Fertility, SEF and, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, ESHRE; we will study each specific case and consider the possibility of postponing them until the Alert State has ended.

We aim to facilitate the measures communicated by the authorities during the last days in terms of restriction of movement, especially for citizens coming from other cities, regions and countries.

We remind our patients that we are available, and for any doubt or query, they can call our medical care line: +34 961 042 557 from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00.

COVID-19 and pregnancy

We also want to stress, as the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology reported last Saturday, that there is no evidence of a negative effect of Covid-19 infection on pregnancies, especially those in the early stages.

There is also no evidence that the virus is present in biological reproductive material or related biological tissues, nor is it advised against pregnancy by any public or private health institution.

However, we quote:

“In view of the previous considerations […] ESHRE continues to recommend a cautious approach. It is also important to note that some of the medical treatments administered to severely infected patients may indicate the use of drugs that are contraindicated in pregnant women”.

“For those patients who are already in treatment, we suggest considering a deferred pregnancy with oocyte or embryo freezing for a subsequent embryo transfer.”

“ESHRE further recommends that patients who are pregnant, or those (men and women) planning or undergoing fertility treatment, avoid contact with potentially infected people, and travelling to known areas of infection.”

COVID-19 Safety and Protocols

At Equipo Juana Crespo, from the beginning of the present crisis, we have carried out all the necessary safety, hygiene and disinfection measures.

Already scheduled consultations at the clinic will continue to be carried out as normally as possible and following all the recommended prevention protocols. These include optimising the shifts of our workers, having only one accompanying person per visit or spacing them out over time, thus respecting safety distances and avoiding unnecessary concentration of people.

We understand the inconvenience that some of these measures may cause to all our patients. However, the complexity of the current situation requires exceptional measures and we greatly appreciate your understanding and help.
